cause: building a system of quality early care and education

The Robert R. McCormick Foundation works with communities in Chicagoland and across Illinois to develop educated, informed and engaged citizens.

A Look at Kindergarten Readiness

What if we could act earlier in a child’s educational journey to provide the supports and opportunities necessary to achieve success in school and beyond?

That’s precisely what Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS) data seeks to inform. KIDS is an assessment tool developed in collaboration between the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the early childhood community, advocates, educators and policymakers to foster greater alignment among early childhood programs, community services and kindergarten. It also works as a tool for teachers to guide instruction, adapt curriculum, and encourage play-based learning experiences. Statewide KIDS implementation receives support from McCormick Foundation, who hired Cause for a redesign after issue of the first annual report.

We created a more modern look that is sharp and professional, but bright and engaging. We built a standalone snapshot page to visually highlight the data for each year and rolled out the look across subsequent KIDS conference print and digital creative.
